Mt. Yonah
Sunday, June 28, 2026 • Cleveland, GA, Georgia
One of North Georgia's most iconic day hikes. At 3,166 feet, the summit of Yonah gives you a full panoramic view over the Chattahoochee National Forest — on a clear day you can see for miles in every direction.
The trail is direct and honest — it doesn't mess around. The first mile is a gradual approach through forest, then the trail steepens significantly in the upper half with some rocky scrambling near the summit. It's rated hard and it earns that rating.

What to Bring
This isn't a casual walk. Come prepared:
- Footwear — Hiking boots or trail running shoes. No regular sneakers.
- Water — At minimum 2 liters per person. More if it's hot.
- Snacks — Bring something for the trail and summit. You'll earn it.
- Pack — You should not be hiking with items in your hands. Bring a bag to carry everything.
- Rain jacket — We're in the mountains. Weather changes fast. Umbrellas are fine but may snag on branches.
- Extra socks — Always. Your feet will thank you.
- Compass — If you attended the NAV class, bring yours.
- Bear spray — Yonah is bear country. Bring it if you have it.
- Fully charged phone — Before you leave home.
Tell someone where you're going. Let your family or a friend know your destination and estimated return time.
If you have any health concerns, find one of the team leaders before we start. No one gets left behind — but we need to know what we're working with.
