Airsoft at Georgia Airsoft

Three Hours in the Woods, Running on Adrenaline
Not every Muslim Adventures event involves a mountain. This one involved BBs.
On September 20, 2025, we swapped the usual trail for the woods at Georgia Airsoft — the Athens-area field just outside Winterville. Three hours of woods play: bunkers, buildings, objectives, and a whole lot of sprinting. If the point of these meetups is brotherhood, this might be the most direct route to it — there is nothing quite like being pinned behind cover together to speed up the getting-to-know-you phase.
Airsoft is about as close as you can safely get to a real tactical experience. Replica rifles that fire 6mm plastic BBs, teams, objectives, and hit rules the whole field takes seriously. It's fast, it's loud, and it is an absolute workout.
The Field That Hides in Plain Sight
Here's the part that makes you think your GPS is broken: the entrance to Georgia Airsoft looks exactly like a driveway going to a house. The field's own directions page says so — you'll see a smaller red sign at the road, then the sign for the field further down the driveway. Follow it around and you'll find the marked-off parking area.
It's a woods-style field — netted boundaries, bunkers, buildings, and plenty of trees — tucked into the countryside just outside Athens:

Walk-on games run every Saturday from noon to 5 pm, and groups of four or more can reserve other times by emailing [email protected]. There's no phone number — the field runs everything through email and Facebook.
The Weather
Historical data for September 20, 2025 at the field:
| Condition | Reading |
|---|---|
| High temperature | 30.7°C (87°F) |
| Low temperature | 18.6°C (65°F) |
| Precipitation | 1.2mm — a brief drizzle around 6 pm |
| Wind | 12.6 km/h, gusts to 24.5 km/h |
| Sky | Mostly sunny — proper late-summer Georgia heat |
The afternoon peaked above 30°C right around the time everyone was sprinting between bunkers. Late September in Georgia does not feel like autumn yet. Everybody earned their water break that day.
Good to Know Before You Go
- Field fee: $15 if you bring your own gun and gear.
- AEG rental package: $60 — includes the field fee, AEG rifle, goggles, protective vest, ballcap, magazine, and 1,000 BBs. Group discounts for 15+ players.
- Minimum age: 10. Players under 18 need a parent or guardian to sign the waiver (it's downloadable from the field's website).
- Eye protection: fully enclosed goggles, ANSI Z87.1 rated or better. Mesh goggles and safety glasses are not allowed. Everyone under 18 must wear full-face and ear protection.
- Chrono rules: rifles, pistols, and shotguns must shoot under 400 fps (1.5 joules) for woods play; CQB guns under 1.3 joules; bolt-action snipers under 550 fps (2 joules). No metal BBs, ever.
- Minimum engagement: 10 feet for normal guns — closer than that, it's a safety kill or a verbal surrender. Snipers over 400 fps must stay at least 100 feet from their targets.
- New players get a 10–15 minute safety briefing before stepping onto the field.
What to Bring
- Water — at least 1 litre; three hours of woods play in 30°C heat drains you fast
- Long sleeves and pants — BB hits sting less through fabric, and the woods have briars
- Sturdy shoes or boots — you'll be running on uneven ground, roots, and trails
- A change of clothes — you'll leave sweaty and covered in Georgia clay
- Signed waiver for anyone under 18 — or a parent or guardian to sign on game day
